What is Evernote?
Evernote is highly popular online note taking organizer which works extremely well to jot something down and just send it to Evernote so you can peruse it later. Its great for archiving text notes, voice notes, images, think of it brain dump depository.

We can now use Evernote in Symbian, but not for official support, but thanks to a developer, Michael Freeman, who has created a widget for Symbian s60v5 devices.

Some obervations about WRT:

1. The 5800 is not powerful enough or does not have a recent enough version of webkit for its browser to properly display jQuery UI effects. Effects that are very smooth on the PC and emulator are jerky and incomplete on the actual phone. Hopefully, the new firmware rumored to be coming in October will improve the performance of the browser and JavaScript engine
2. WRT still needs a lot more work before it is a very useful toolkit
* Its APIs are still fairly limited. I wanted to use the Messaging API to send e-mails directly from the application but no such API exists yet. It only supports MMS and SMS (and even the addressing of those messages is limited).
* Users should be able to set security preferences one time for an app and not have to approve every use of an API by an application. This is a problem with some Java apps as well. Users should have the choice to setup the security preferences one time for each app. The constant request for approval (just like Vista) is very frustrating.
* The new camera API looks promising, but until the e-mail api exists it will be useless for Evernote (although other apps could work fine).

For past few days, I’d been busy finding workable solution to the annoyed “expired certificate” problem that happen when I attempt to install SIS/SISX program files in Nokia 5800.

There are forums and blogs mentioned that the version 10 firmware is well known for this “expired certificate” bug and thus should upgrade to the latest firmware version 11.0.008.

However, my Nokia 5800 firmware is already at this latest version out of the box. So, what’s next?

But now, I’m pleased to tell you that I’ve fixed this “silly bug” at last try,

How to solve the Nokia 5800 “Expired Certificate” error that fails most SIS program files installation?

To be frank, I just don’t believe that one-line reply could be a real solution for me. But, I’ve ran out of ideas and found nothing newer than his suggestion.

So, I simply take it as last resource to try. Eventually, this simple trick does works magically, and I can’t wait to tell him how excited and grateful I am!

For reference, here is the solution in detail (in case you’re not sure what additional steps I’d done on top of his one-line guide):

Backup all messages, notes, calendar entries, and contacts.

I used Nokia PC Suite to backup all these four components instead of using Nokia 5800 inbuilt backup function, which doesn’t has an option to backup Notes (but I’m not sure the ALL settings will back up the Notes).

Remove the microSD memory card.

When the phone is powered on, don’t simply remove the memory card. Otherwise, the memory card content will likely corrupt.

To remove the microSD card when the Nokia 5800 is switched on, press the power key (the button next to the power charging port), scroll down to locate and select Remove Memory Card, opt “Yes” as the “Removing memory card will close all open applications. Remove anyway?” message is displayed.

Shortly after, the “Remove Memory Card and press OK” message appears, and then the microSD is ready to be unplugged or removed from the dedicated slot.

Notes, both SIM card and microSD card slot are next to each other on the same side (another defect, personally), don’t be careless and end up corrupting the SIM card (if you happen remove SIM card instead of microSD card).

Format the Nokia 5800

Access to touch keypad and enter *#7370# secret code (not so secret, anyway) to restore phone settings to factory default (even the user data and files are deleted).

Next, you’re prompted to enter the Nokia phone lock code. The default is 12345, if this code hasn’t been changed by yourself or any one.

Then, the phone restarts and you’ve to select the country region (just select your own country from the list, in this case), followed by request to enter current date and time.

When the phone is ready, power it off again to re-insert the memory card (for highly safety measure, unless there are nothing important kept in the memory card, e.g. picture, music, documents, etc).

As the phone is switched on again with memory card inserted, the “preparing memory card” message appears.

Finally, I’m happy to be able install all my wanted Nokia 5800 programs and games without getting the “Expired Certificate” error message that says “Certificate may not yet be valid, is expired or phone’s date setting may be incorrect”

Hey u guys, i searched the forum and came to the conclusion that this app wasn't already posted. so i hope you'll enjoy this

Pokemon with the following editions: Blue, Yellow, Red, Gold, Cristal, Silver and some puzzel games. App is already signed. You need to play this with a virtual keyboard, so here are the steps how to play this with the nokia keyboard:
1) insatll it
2) start the app and select your langauge (options)
3) start e.g. gold
4) then u have to press "option" --> then set buttons. It'll ask you for the "Right", "Left", "Up", "Down", "A", "B", "Select" and "Start" key so you set this by pressing the keys of the virtual keyboard. These are the keys of a Gameboy if you still remember. So I set the buttons like this: A to A, B to B, Selcet to C, and Start to D, just for example.
5) after you've done this you select "options" and then "fullscreen" so you can see more of the game. You can still go to the main menu by pressing the middle key.

i guess you can also works with an other virtual keyboard.

Okay, so I made a small java app that can take accelerometer data from the phone, send it via wifi to a computer and control the mouse.

Step by step for nokia 5800:
1: Install sensor_s60_5_0_beta.sisx on your phone (will add JSR 256 (Mobile sensor API) support)
2: Install phone_mouse.jar on your phone
3: Run the pmserver.jar on your desktop
4: Run PMClient on your phone
5: Have fun! (for like half a minute)

Please try it out and bombard me with improvement suggestions =D
And remember, this is extremely early testing version. Mouse click functionality will come eventually.
